From May 25th - General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) will impact all business and organisations that work with any personal information (such as names and addresses) relating to any individual within the EU. The regulations will not be affected by Brexit and will transfer into UK law.
Obligations under GDPR are significantly more stringent than under the Data Protection Act, with added accountability and fines of up to €20 million or 4% of global turnover (whichever is greater). The ICO state that you must be able to ‘demonstrate your compliance’ with GDPR.
