Adrenaline Devices & Anaphylaxis Kits

The Human Medicines Regulations 2017 has allowed qualifying businesses with an occupational health scheme (OHS) available to buy adrenaline auto-injector (AAI) devices without a prescription, for emergency use.

By UK law, an organisation must have an Occupational Health Scheme to purchase adrenaline pens. This could be an internal company OH professional such as a physician/nurse, or a third-party provider you have available to the business.

Since 2017 we have been trusted to supply thousands of UK organisations with EpiPens and JEXT branded Adrenaline Injectors, along with anaphylaxis kits, online anaphylaxis training, and accessories for correct storage, signposting, logging, maintenance and disposal - all at an affordable cost.

We supply adrenaline injectors in innovative and sustainable temperature-controlled packaging to ensure there is minimal delay in receiving emergency pharmaceuticals, with most orders received next working day.

Our affordable anaphylaxis kits and straightforward service has worked well for thousands of UK organisations because they can easily order how many pens they need, when they need them, at the same time as other essential supplies - saving time, money, and lives.

Please note that AAIs have expiry dates typically between 9-18 months due to the nature of the adrenaline within. If you wish to clarify the use by dates of our existing stock before placing your order, please contact our sales department on 0800 160 1621. Our stock management protocols ensure no AAI devices ever go to waste.

EpiPens and Anaphylaxis Kits On Your Premises

The Human Medicines Regulations 2017 allow qualifying organisations with access to an Occupational Health Scheme (OHS) to purchase adrenaline auto-injector (AAI) devices without a prescription for emergency use.

MediSupplies provides organisations with access to EpiPen and Jext adrenaline auto-injectors, anaphylaxis kits, and supporting products, including training resources and accessories for safe storage, identification, monitoring, maintenance, and disposal.

Under UK law, organisations must have an Occupational Health Scheme in place to purchase adrenaline pens. This may be provided internally by a qualified healthcare professional, such as a physician or nurse, or through an external occupational health provider. Orders must be placed by a suitably qualified health professional.

To place an order, complete our AAI supply form online or download and return it via email to sales@medisupplies.co.uk. Orders can also be placed by phone on 0800 160 1621. Instant credit is available for eligible UK businesses.

Why Your Organisation Should Provide Anaphylaxis Kits

Each year, around 26,000 people in the UK are admitted to hospital due to anaphylaxis. This serious and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction requires immediate treatment.

  • Research indicates that an estimated 40-50% of allergy sufferers do not routinely carry an EpiPen or AAI device with them.
  • Many people are unaware they have a severe allergy until an anaphylactic reaction occurs for the first time.

Providing backup or emergency adrenaline devices on your premises is a practical step that can support rapid response and help protect staff, visitors, and contractors in the event of an emergency.

Managing Risk and Cost Effectively

Emergency medical risk can vary over time, and the number of adrenaline devices required may change accordingly. Sourcing devices as needed allows organisations to maintain appropriate levels of emergency provision while controlling costs.

MediSupplies anaphylaxis kits are designed to accommodate up to four adrenaline devices, allowing organisations to stock devices based on their specific risk profile.

Empty kit boxes and wall mounting points are also available separately, enabling existing devices to be stored clearly, securely, and accessibly. Alternatively, organisations may choose to hold emergency devices only, stored in a suitable location.

With competitive pricing and fast, free UK delivery over £50, MediSupplies supports organisations in maintaining flexibility over emergency stock levels without unnecessary overspend.

Brands of Adrenaline Injector

EpiPen is one of the most widely recognised adrenaline auto-injector brands in the UK, which is why AAIs are often commonly referred to as “EpiPens”. MediSupplies also supplies Jext devices, enabling organisations to select the most appropriate option based on existing training arrangements and user familiarity.

In some workplace settings, individuals known to be at risk of anaphylaxis may already be prescribed a specific brand of adrenaline auto-injector. Providing the same or a familiar device can help support effective emergency response.

MediSupplies anaphylaxis kits are designed to accommodate both EpiPen and Jext devices, offering a flexible solution that can be aligned with the needs of your organisation.

Signposting Adrenaline Injectors and Anaphylaxis Kits

As with all first aid and emergency medical equipment, adrenaline auto-injectors and anaphylaxis kits should be clearly signposted using compliant, universally recognised safety signage.

Signage for first aid and medical supplies is classified as safe condition signage and should be green with white text or symbols, incorporating a first aid cross in accordance with ISO standards and the Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996.

Consistent signposting helps ensure emergency anaphylaxis provisions are aligned with existing safety signage across your premises, enabling faster recognition and response in an emergency.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) advises that:

“Where signs of the same type are used in a workplace, they should be of a consistent style and design to ensure they are easily and quickly understood.”

Maintaining consistency in colour, shape, and symbols is essential to reduce confusion and ensure safety messages are clearly interpreted. Signs should conform to the standardised designs set out in the Safety Signs and Signals Regulations.

Using multiple styles of signage to convey the same type of safety message is not recommended, as this can:

  • Reduce immediate recognition
  • Cause hesitation or misinterpretation in emergency situations
  • Diminish overall effectiveness and regulatory compliance

Important information about allergic reactions

Anaphylaxis is a severe and life-threatening allergic reaction - it can be fatal if treatment is not given quickly.

Anaphylaxis kits feature clearly marked slots for 150mg and 300mg dosages to exactly match this categorisation and allow for correct storage of both junior and adult devices in one kit. Ensure that devices are stored in the correct slot that match their dosage when adding devices and performing regular maintenance inspections.

Under the Human Medicines Regulations 2017, qualifying organisations with access to an Occupational Health Scheme (OHS) may purchase adrenaline auto-injector devices without a prescription for emergency use.

To procure adrenaline pens, organisations must have an Occupational Health Scheme in place, either through an internal healthcare professional (such as a physician or nurse) or a third-party occupational health provider.

Anaphylaxis is a serious allergic reaction that typically occurs shortly after contact with a trigger, although in some cases symptoms may be delayed by several hours. Triggers can vary between individuals.

Common causes of anaphylaxis include:

  • Food – such as peanuts, eggs, and seafood
  • Medicines – including antibiotics such as penicillin
  • Insect stings – for example, bees or wasps

Adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs) are designed to be intuitive and easy to use, providing emergency treatment for anaphylaxis when rapid intervention is required.

Different brands of adrenaline auto-injectors operate in different ways. It is essential that users follow the instructions supplied with the specific AAI device provided.

Pharmaceutical Packaging

Temperature-Controlled Pharmaceutical Packaging

To support timely despatch of essential pharmaceutical products, MediSupplies uses specialist temperature-controlled packaging designed to protect medicines during transit.

As part of our licence to distribute pharmaceutical products, we are required to ensure they are not exposed to temperatures below 8°C or above 25°C at any stage, including storage and transport. While pharmaceuticals are held in a temperature-controlled environment prior to despatch, external conditions during transit, such as sub-zero winter temperatures or high summer heat, can otherwise cause delays.

To minimise disruption, we use an innovative temperature-controlled packaging solution that allows pharmaceutical orders to be despatched promptly in a wide range of weather conditions, without passing additional costs on to customers.

This packaging is both effective and sustainable. It combines natural sheep’s wool fibres with a compostable, biodegradable outer layer to help insulate products in colder conditions and maintain cooler temperatures when it is warm. This protection is maintained throughout the journey from our warehouse to delivery.

Please note that adrenaline auto-injectors are despatched separately from non-pharmaceutical items such as kit boxes or wall mounting points. This does not incur any additional charge, and all deliveries are fast and free*.

Online Anaphylaxis Awareness Training for UK Workplaces

Training plays an important role in supporting awareness and effective response to anaphylaxis within workplace environments.

MediSupplies offers access to fully accredited, CPD-certified online anaphylaxis awareness training through a recognised training provider. The course is available at a low per-user cost and allows organisations to train staff as required, providing flexibility around scheduling and uptake.

The course is valid for three years and issues an official certificate on completion, which can be retained as part of organisational training records.

Course content and certification are endorsed by TQUK and aligned with current UK and European Resuscitation Council guidelines, including those relating to anaphylaxis.

Designed for individuals requiring an understanding of anaphylaxis awareness, the course covers recognition of symptoms, appropriate treatment, correct use of EpiPen and Jext devices, escalation to emergency medical services, and post-incident care considerations.
